Celebrating Diwali’s Triumph & Tradition: Lanterns of Light Created by the Students of White Lotus International School

Diwali, the radiant festival of lights, is a celebration of the triumph of good over evil, and the power of light to dispel darkness. It is a time for communities to unite, reflecting on the blessings of family, health, and harmony.

The festival’s name derives from the rows of clay lamps (deepa) that illuminate homes, symbolizing the inner light that shields us from spiritual darkness. Diwali is celebrated with deep devotion across India, honoring the divine as the protector and provider of peace, prosperity, and happiness.

In the north, it signifies King Rama’s victorious return to Ayodhya after vanquishing Ravana. In the south, it celebrates Lord Krishna’s defeat of the demon Narakasura, and in the west, it marks Lord Vishnu’s sending of King Bali to the netherworld, ensuring balance and peace on earth.

At White Lotus International School, our students wholeheartedly embraced the festive spirit, honoring our rich cultural heritage by crafting beautiful lanterns and wall hangings. Their creativity and enthusiasm shone brightly, as they prepared to welcome this joyous and vibrant festival with pride and excitement.
